2025 Deacon Elections
It is time for our members to once again elect deacons to our deacon board. The deacons of Woodmont Baptist Church serve alongside of your pastors and staff to help our church function in healthy, biblical, and effective ways for the Kingdom. Our deacons meet monthly to pray, discuss the business of the church, and to make decisions about what to bring to the whole congregation at church-wide Members Meetings.
This year, we are electing 6 deacons to serve a three-year term (April 1, 2025 - March 31, 2028). As per our bylaws, the Deacon Nominating Committee has collected your nominations and has prayerfully compiled this ballot of 9 qualified individuals. As a member of our church, we ask that you would prayerfully select up to six people from this ballot.
The apostle Paul gives young Pastor Timothy some advice regarding qualifications for deacons in 1 Timothy 3:8-13. It is clear that their character is what matters most. Paul teaches that deacons should have these qualifications:
-
Dignified (3:8 - they are honorably serious about the right things)
-
Not double-tongued (3:8 - they clearly speak the truth consistently)
-
Not addicted (3:8 - they have self-control over their passions)
-
Not greedy for dishonest gain (3:8 - they are content with what God has blessed them with)
-
Have a clear conscience (3:9 - they walk by faith demonstrating purity)
-
Proven servant leaders (3:10 - they have some experience showing their servant-heart)
-
Blameless (3:10 - they have a good standing in the community and the congregation)
Manage their family well (3:12 - they are faithfully pursuing God’s call to singleness or marriage, raising children in the knowledge and discipline of the Lord)
Click below to go to the online deacon ballot and select up to 6 deacons on the list. Ballots are due by March 9. Paper ballots will be mailed to those without email access.
Thank you for your continued partnership in the gospel ministry of Woodmont Baptist. Let’s continue to love the Lord, love one another, love our neighbors, and make disciples - all by His grace and for His glory.
Grace and peace,
Nathan Parker
Senior Pastor
